Greetings everyone!

It hardly seems possible that it was only 16 months ago that Central Missouri Scale Modelers started. We have really come a long way since then. Let’s look at the past 16 months.

Our first meeting was in September 2009, and we have met each month since, with an average attendance of 9 modelers.

Over the past year, we have participated in the following activities:

§  Had model display tables at The Columbia Car Classic, The 2010 Honor Drive, and the Old Wheels Car Club.

§  Conducted a modeling instruction event at the Independant Living Resource Center Summer Camp for kids in July.

§  Some of our members participated at modeling competitions at The Gateway Invitational St Louis in September, and at KCCON Kansas City in October, having great success at these competitions.

Now looking ahead, what do we have in store for 2011? Well, I don’t think we are going to be slowing either.  We will be involved in the same events this year that we were at in 2010, and hopefully in greater numbers.  I challenge everyone to be out in greater numbers and have more entries at the modeling competitions that will take place in and around the state of Missouri in 2011!

TigerCon 2011, our own modeling competition, will be taking place on November 5th. This will be a challenge to put on and will require lots of hard work, but should turn out to be a model competition that will bring vendors and modelers back each and every year.

IPMS Nationals will be in Omaha, Nebraska this year, August 3 – 6. That is within 5 hours of us here in mid- Missouri.  Would be great to have a group of us up there with our projects! If any of you have not been to IPMS Nationals, it is truly an event that you need to go to. Not only is the competition on a nationwide scale, but there will be workshops, tours, and many, many vendors!

But let’s not forget us and our passion of being modelers. I want to challenge everyone to be active at the monthly meetings, working hard to learn how to do things better at the hobby of modeling. The more we learn about modeling, the more fun we will have at modeling! So if there are things that you want to learn how to do better, or skills that you can help pass on to the group, bring them up at the next meeting.

Let’s make 2011 a year that we can look back on and say, “What a year for Central Missouri Scale Modelers”!
