Hello Fellow Modelers!

This year is moving along quite rapidly!  Our club has seen a few new faces recently - welcome Brian M., Eric B. and Randy C.

In addition to the recent successful Boy Scout Derby Days model display and outreach we have several huge and exciting opportunities for our club coming up in the next few months.

[*] The IPMS Region 5 Convention and Contest is happening May 19th in Overland Park KS.  There are 6 of us that plan to attend and compete and show the other clubs how good we really are!

[*] The Tuskegee Airmen Reception sponsored by UMB Bank of Columbia.  We will display a select few aircraft that capture the spirit and times of the Tuskegee Airmen being honored at this reception.  The event is May 25th in the afternoon!

[*] The "Scale Modeling Workshop" event is schedule and being advertised by the Columbia Public Library.  We will setup a display, have sever workshop tables and a few Make-N-Take tables for the kids setup.  The kids will get to choose between a plane or a Hummer.  The event is Saturday June 2nd from 10:30 to 12:00 at the Columbia Public Library.

[*] The CMSM has placed a low cost advertisement in the Mid Missouri Soap Box Derby event flyer as a way to increase our visibility to those youth, parent and grandparents!  The event is June 10th, 2012 in downtown Columbia.

[*] We are in discussions with VOX Magazine to do a story in their publication and web site regarding our club and hobby.  Hopefully that will happen some time in the next few months.

[*] We are also in discussions with the management of the Columbia Mall to setup a display of models and some signage to promote our club over the summer.  We would hopefully be able to use one of the kiosks that have plexiglass enclosure to protect the display models.  This could generate HUGE interest and awareness of our club and our wonderful hobby!  And it is a perfect opportunity to advertise our TigerCon event!  So keep building those incredible models so we will have something to display to the public!

As always - if you have a topic of interest or a modeling skill that you want to improve or share please let us know and we will make a "Technique Talk" at one of our meetings.  This is your club - without your suggestions, ideas, and involvement it will not succeed!

Wish is luck at the Region 5 Convention!

See you all at the next meeting!
