Scratch-Built, All Scales
You built the whole thing from the ground up with parts and pieces you either made or assembled yourself.
Out of the Box: Military, All Scales
The model was built using only the parts and decals that came in the original box. You can paint it and weather it, but you can't scratch-build additional parts, kit-bash, nor use after-market detail sets. Rigging, when not provided in the kit, may be added if it is called out in the instructions. It is tradition to include the instructions from the kit, if you can, but it is not required.
